Free Template: Change Log

Free project management template for change log

Today’s free project management template is a change log. You can use this to record all your changes, who is responsible for doing the work or analysing the change and the outcome.

Changes need to be recorded carefully because on long projects you won’t be able to remember why you agreed to a certain change – trust me, I’ve forgotten why we said we would do something often enough.

A change log (or change register) lets you note down all the details related to that change. The owner is particularly important as someone needs to be responsible for the analysis and taking the change through the process until it is ultimately approved (or rejected). At that point the owner can change and the actual work be allocated to someone else.
